Contaminated water from a disused mining site was pumped 20 kilometres to a turkey nest dam for use in maintaining an essential service road from the Oz Mineral mine to the port. The water contained high levels of salt that had built up and crystallised in the pipelines, restricting flow and reducing the efficiency of pumps.

A number of pigs of differing types and sizes were used to break up the highly resistant salt deposits. A combination of air scouring and air-rod technology then removed all remaining build up. A number of entry and exit points were created intermittently along the pipe to remove built-up salt. Full water flows and pumping efficiencies were restored.
