The Issue
This underground mine, 250km inland from Kununarra, relied on two pipelines to efficiently transport slurry and tailings from the foot of the mine to the surface using a series of pumps. Remnants of slurry had built up on the internal bore of the pipes, restricting flows, and loosened particles of slurry that were overloading and reducing pump efficiency.
The Solution
Three runs of pigging per pipeline removed most of the loose debris and two additional runs per pipelined fully cleaned and restored the interior surface of the pipes. The work was completed, and the waste material dealt with in full compliance with the Panoramic Resources’ environmental policies and regulatory requirements.
